The German pastor, hymn writer and composer Bartholomäus Ringwaldt was born at Frankfurt an der Oder on 28 November 1532 and died in about 1599 at Langfeld, Brandenburg. He wrote at least 165 hymns, and a selection of them were published at Halle in 1858. Several of his chorale texts are still used today.
