Jonathan Dove

British composer and arranger Jonathan Dove was born on 18 July 1959 into a family of architects, and his work has often been associated with buildings. At the age of twelve he was playing the organ in church. He read music at Cambridge, studying composition with Robin Holloway.

He is known especially for his choral works (including a setting of the Navajo prayer In Beauty May I Walk) and operas, and has been involved with many community projects. From 2001 until 2006 he was artistic director of London's Spitalfields Festival, for which he wrote the cantata On Spital Fields in 2005.
