Dutch pianist Rudolf Jansen was born in Arnhem on 19 January 1940. He studied piano, organ and harpsichord at the Amsterdam Conservatoire. His teachers included his father - Simon C Jansen and Gustav Leonhardt.
He worked as a solo performer and also specialised in chamber music and accompanying Lieder, in which capacity he travelled internationally, accompanying artists such as Elly Ameling, Olaf Bär, Barbara Bonney, Brigitte Fassbänder, Jean-Pierre Rampal and Peter Schreier.
He also taught at the Sweelinck Conservatoire and gave regular masterclasses.
Rudolf Jansen died in Laren on 12 February 2024, aged eighty-four.
