Townsville-Gurambilbarra

Townsville-Gurambilbarra, Australia's largest tropical city, established in 1864, is in North Queensland, on the north-eastern coast, two hundred miles from Cairns and nine hundred miles from Brisbane. The city has a lively arts scene, with its own orchestra and dance company, and is host to the annual Australian Festival of Chamber Music, directed by Jack Liebeck since 2022. Townsville-Gurambilbarra's Civic Theatre is an important performing arts venue in the North Queensland region.

There's more information about the city on Malcolm Tattersall's 'Townsville' page.
