Malcolm Tattersall is an Australian musician and writer who now lives in Townsville, the largest city in tropical North Queensland. He worked for a few years in electronics and computing before commencing studies in music (recorder and composition) at Melbourne University. Then, after a decade teaching recorder in Melbourne, he moved North in 1990.
Malcolm contributed to The Recorder, the de facto national journal for Early Music, from its first issue in 1984, going on to edit it and to write for many other music journals. He has read widely in science, religion and philosophy, fantasy and SF, and literary fiction, which made it natural for him to take up book reviewing for his local newspaper, the Townsville Bulletin, in 2004 when time became available; he has also contributed to Teacher, Viewpoint, Australian Rationalist, and The Helix.
