Serghei Ciuhrii

Moldovan conductor, composer and teacher Serghei Ciuhrii was born in Moara de Piatră on 2 August 1938. He studied at the 'Gavriil Musicescu' Arts Institute in Chisinau with Anatoli D Stolearov.

He made many arrangements of folk and popular Moldovan music for choirs and orchestras, and also worked as a university lecturer.

He died on 7 March 2023, aged eighty-four.
