The English pianist, organist, chorus master and conductor Adrian Partington, born in Nottingham on 1 October 1958, is the son of professional musicians - a pianist and a violinist. He was a chorister at King's School, Worcester under Christopher Robinson and organ scholar at St George's Chapel, Windsor and King's College, Cambridge. He also studied at the Royal College of Music in London.
He was associate chorus master at the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra during Simon Rattle's years there, and chorus master in Cardiff for the late Richard Hickox.
He works regularly with many of the UK's most famous choirs, including the Philharmonia, the London Bach Choir and the BBC Symphony Chorus, and is conductor of Bristol Choral Society. He has a duo with violinist Margaret Faultless and plays continuo with the English Chamber Orchestra, Florilegium and Collegium Musicum 90.
In 2007 he was appointed as director of music at Gloucester Cathedral, succeeding Andrew Nethsingha, and took up that position in January 2008.
