Scottish pianist and conductor Murray McLachlan was born in Dundee on 6 January 1965. He has given first performances of music by Beethoven, Martin Butler, Charles Camilleri, Michael Parkin, Ronald Stevenson and Jeremy Thurlow, and has recorded for the Olympia, Linn, Divine Art, Claremont and Redbrook labels. His discography includes music by Chopin, Grieg, Hamish MacCunn and much Russian music.
He is head of keyboard at Chetham's School of Music, a tutor at the Royal Northern College of Music and artistic director of Chetham's International Summer School and Festival for Pianists.
