Hannes Minnaar

'Playing with both atmosphere and precision ...' - Mike Wheeler of Hannes Minnaar

Dutch pianist Hannes Minnaar was born on 26 December 1984 and grew up in Yerseke amd Emmeloord. He started to play the piano aged seven.  At the Amsterdam Conservatory he studied piano with Jan Wijn and organ with Jacques van Oortmerssen. Later he continued his piano studies with Alfred Brendel, Menahem Pressler and Ferenc Rados.

In 2008 he won second prize in the Geneva International Competitino, two years later he won third prize at the Queen Elisabeth Competition in Brussels, in June 2012 he receved the Edison Classic Debut Prize and in 2016 he received the Dutch Music Prize. He performs with violinist Maria Milstein and cellist Gideon den Herder as the Van Baerle Piano Trio, and this group won the 2012 Kersjes van de Groenekan Prize.
