English opera singer Ben Vishala Thapa was born in Cambridge on 2 March 1982. He had perfect pitch. He sang and played clarinet as a child, then studied at the Royal Northern College of Music, at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama and at the Wales International Academy of Voice.
He was best known as a member of the four-man vocal troupe G4, originally a barbershop quartet, but also had a solo operatic career with Scottish Opera, Teatru Manoel, Birmingham Opera, the Buxton Festival and Longborough Festival Opera.
Ben Thapa died from kidney failure on 8 September 2024, aged forty-two.
