Augusta Read Thomas

American composer and teacher Augusta Read Thomas was born in Glen Cove, NY on 24 April 1964 and studied at Northwestern University, then at Yale with Jacob Druckman and at the Royal Academy of Music in London with Paul Patterson.

She lives in Chicago, where she teaches at the University and is director of the Chicago Center for Contemporary Composition, which she created in 2018.

She has a large catalogue of choral, orchestral, chamber and solo instrumental music.
