Polish composer and conductor Władysław Słowiński was born in Sadino on 14 May 1930. He studied composition with Tadeusz Szeligowski, conducting with Valerian Beerdiaeva and Stanisław Wisłocki and musicology with Adolf Chybiński.
He was conductor of the Poznań Grand Theatre (1954-1964), and collaborated with various orchestras, including the Poznań Philharmonic.
He was artistic director of Polish Recordings (1970-1973), secretary general of the main board of the Polish Composers' Union (1973-1985) and president of the Warsaw branch of Polish Composers (1985-2001). In 1986 he initiated the Warsaw Music Meetings festival and was its artistic director.
Władysław Słowiński died on 5 September 2024, aged ninety-four.
