Pentatone is a classical record label based at Baarn in the Netherlands and founded in 2001 by three former Philips Classics executives - Giel Bessels, Dirk van Dijk and Job Maarse. The label is best known for its high resolution multichannel surround sound recordings released in the SACD format. In 2022 Sean Hickey succeeded Simon M Eder as managing director of Pentatone and the label was acquired by the San Francisco Conservatory.
