The Munich Philharmonic Orchestra or Münchner Philharmoniker is the orchestra of the city of Munich, capital of Bavaria in Germany, and was founded in 1893. The orchestra has been conducted by a series of high profile figures, including Felix Weingartner, Gustav Mahler, Ferdinand Löwe, Sergiu Celibidache and Zubin Mehta. Lahav Shani is the orchestra's chief conductor from September 2026 onwards. The Munich Philharmonic also has its own record label.
