Greek composer, conductor and pianist Mimis Plessas was born Dimitrios Plessas in Athens on 12 October 1924. He began his career in chemistry, working on the material myelin.
He began his musical career in 1952. As a composer, he wrote music for more than a hundred films, TV programmes, radio programmes and theatrical events, forming his own musical style from the Greek traditional entekhno and laïkó genres and working with well-known Greek performers.
Mimis Plessas died in Athens on 5 October 2024, aged ninety-nine.
