French composer and teacher Édith Lejet was born on 19 July 1941 in Paris, where she studied at the Conservatoire national supérieur de musique et de danse.
Her music is not linked to any particular school or trend, but is generally concise, with carefully selected material and form. Her works have been frequently broadcast internationally, in countries including Belgium, Canada, France, Israel, Japan, the Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, Spain, Switzerland and the former Yugoslavia.
She taught at the Sorbonne and at the École Normale de Musique de Paris Alfred Cortot, retiring in September 2005.
Édith Lejet died on 15 July 2024, aged nearly eighty-three.
