American composer Jean Belmont Ford was born in Redlands, California, on 25 December 1939, and is based in Kansas. Her output includes the choral works If Music Be the Food of Love and Johnny has Gone for a Soldier. Another choral piece, Electa, was recorded in 2008 on the Chandos label in a performance by the Phoenix Chorale conducted by Charles Bruffy.
