The surname Beck, originally either Germanic or Hebrew, is quite common in Denmark, Germany and countries speaking English or cyrillic languages. In classical music circles it can refer to the German composer Franz Ignaz Beck, to the American musician and teacher Dolores Beck, to the Ludwig Beck department store in Munich or to the Canadian film and TV composer Christophe Beck. You might also see references to the English rock guitarist Jeff Beck playing arrangements of classical pieces, such as Puccini's Nessun Dorma or Mahler's Adagietto.
