American composer, music theorist, critic, pianist, teacher, classical radio and disco DJ Steven Bloch was born on 5 November 1952 in New York City. His music has been performed in various countries, including Australia, France, Poland and the USA. His articles have appeared in various journals and magazines.
In 1992 he received the University of New Mexico's first award for excellence in teaching, and the following year he was a UNM Faculty Scholar. He is currently chairman of UNM's Department of Music.
His eight-minute orchestral work Shadows (1993) has been released on the MMC Recordings label (MMC2064) and also on Navona Records' NV7871.
