Allen Brings

Award-winning American composer and pianist Allen Brings was born in New York City on 24 February 1934. He studied at Queens College, Columbia University and Boston University. His teachers have included Otto Luening and Gardner Read. In 1962 he was able to study with Roger Sessions at Princeton.

His published compositions, which include works for orchestra, band, chorus, a wide variety of chamber ensembles, piano, organ, harpsichord, guitar and voice, have been recorded on the Navona, Capstone, Centaur, Contemporary Record Society, North/South Consonance, Arizona University Recordings and Vienna Modern Masters labels.
