William Schuman
American composer William Schuman was born 4 August 1910 in the Bronx area of New York. A pupil of Charles Haubiel and Roy Harris, and for many years President of the Juilliard School, Schuman wrote ten symphonies, an opera, dance scores for Martha Graham and Anthony Tudor, and numerous other works. He died on 15 February 1992.
