H K Gruber

Austrian composer H K Gruber was born in Vienna on 3 January 1943, singing in the famous Boys' Choir and studying with Gottfried von Einem and Hanns Jelinek at the Hochschule für Musik. One of his most known works, Frankenstein!!, exhibits the surreal tonality for which his recent music has come to be known.

CD Spotlight. A Fresh Appraisal - Gerald Fenech listens to music by Hanns Eisler. '... the music is beautiful and expressive and filled with a mixture of moods that reflect the tempestuous times in which it was written.'

Ensemble. Completely Bonkers - H K Gruber's 'Gloria - A Pigtale', reviewed by Mike Wheeler

Ensemble. Actually Sung - Weill and Brecht's 'Threepenny Opera', reviewed by Robert Hugill
