Sandrine Erdely-Sayo

French/American pianist and composer Sandrine Erdely-Sayo was born in Perpignan, France and began to study music at the age of four, with teachers such as Michèle Puig, Denyse Rivière and Christian Manen. From thirteen onwards she began winning a series of competitions. At fourteen she wrote Three Pieces for Chamber Orchestra which were performed at the Théâtre du Châtelet in Paris. Following studies in Paris, she studied piano and composition at the University of the Arts in Philadelphia, USA, where her teachers included Susan Starr.

She has worked internationally, including in Argentina, France, Spain and the USA, and her recordings include Majestic Liszt on Navona Records and music by Primitivo Lazaro on the Randolfo label. She also made the first recording of Francis Poulenc's early Trois Pastorales.

Her own compositions include Platero y Yo for piano and narrator, and the song Hymn to Sedona.

She is artistic director of the Piano on the Rocks Festival in Sedona, Arizona, USA.

Outside of music, she is committed to fostering intellectual exploration, as a member of the International Society for Philosophical Enquiry and the Mega Society.
