Victor Aviat

French oboist and conductor Victor Aviat was born in Montpellier in 1982. He studied oboe, piano and conducting in Paris, Zurich and Geneva.

He began his career as an oboist, working as principal oboe with a series of high profile orchestras including those in Hungary, Italy and Switzerland. In addition, he began a career as a conductor, working with orchestras in France, Luxembourg and the UK.

In 2015/16 he led performances of a new production of Offenbach's Le roi Carotte at Opéra de Lyon which were widely praised and broadcast on radio and TV.

Victor Aviat died from a brain tumour in Berlin, Germany on 1 May 2025, aged forty-two.
