American composer Samuel Carl Adams was born in San Francisco, California on 30 December 1985. He studied composition and electroacoustics at Stanford University. Later he studied with Martin Bresnick and at Yale.
He has been commissioned by the New World Symphony, the San Francisco Symphony, Carnegie Hall, the Chicago Symphony Orchestra and St Lawrence String Quartet.
In addition to composing acoustic and electroacoustic music, he also works as a sound designer and a double bass player, teaches and takes part in projects with young musicians.
