Bulgarian composer and conductor Alexander Yossifov was born in Sofia on 12 August 1940. He studied at the Bulgarian State Conservatory - composition with Pancho Vladigerov and conducting with Konstantin Iliev.
He conducted the Bulgarian National Radio Symphony Orchestra and wrote an opera, Back to the Beginning, plus symphonic, chamber and instrumental works, plus art songs.
He died on 25 November 2016, aged seventy-six.
