British composer Peter Thompson was born in Peterborough in 1955 and studied composition with Carey Blyton at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London. His first string quartet won first prize in the 1983 MidNAG Composition Competition, and he won the 1996 Irish Music Rights Organisation's International Composers' Competition. His output, including four symphonies and much chamber, piano and vocal music, is published by Fand Music (fandmusic.com)
