Terry Riley was born in Colfax, California, on 24 June 1935. His music is characterised by repetition, and is influenced by Indian musicians. Riley, who has also used aleatoric and electronic processes in his compositions, is also known for his solo improvisations on electronic keyboards and as a soprano saxophonist.
