Canadian writer and teacher Barb Rumson was born Barbet Siket to Hungarian emigrant parents in Montreal on 24 June 1931. She taught in British Columbia, Quebec and Alberta, and also worked as a librarian and as a research assistant on TV documentaries. As a writer she specialised in books for teachers and children's books. Developing Optimism, co-written with Wanda Boyer, was published in 2000, and her novel Silent Shriek was published in 2002.
Barb Rumson died in Victoria, British Columbia, on 22 November 2022, aged ninety-one.
