PROVOCATIVE THOUGHTS:
The late Patric Standford may have written these short pieces deliberately to provoke our feedback. If so, his success is reflected in the rich range of readers' comments appearing at the foot of most of the pages.
The Italian composer Francesco Passarini, known for writing difficult cornett parts, was born on 10 November 1636 and died on 23 September 1694, aged fifty-seven. Works include the Letanie della Beata Vergine for five voices (SSATB), two violins and continuo.
