Finnish composer Tauno Marttinen was born in Helsinki on 27 September 1912. He studied in Viipuri (Vyborg) and Helsinki.
Beginning in a late Romantic style, he wrote ten symphonies, ballets, concertos, other orchestral music, chamber music and works for solo voice, piano and organ.
Tauno Marttinen died on 18 July 2008, aged ninety-five.
