Kate Moore

Australian composer Kate Moore was born in Oxfordshire, England in 1979. She studied at the Australian National University, The Royal Conservatory of The Hague and the Sydney University Conservatorium of Music.

She has studied with both Australian and Dutch composers, and has written orchestral, chamber, solo, electroacoustic, dance, theatre and film music. She has also created sound sculptures and installations. 

Currently based in the Netherlands, in 2017 Kate Moore was the first woman to win the Matthijs Vermeulen Award - the Netherlands' most important composition prize. In 2022 she received the inaugural Gieskes-Strijbis Podiumprijs - a Netherlands-based prise initiated in 2017 to support free thought and imagination - for her contribution to the performing arts.
