Étienne Nicolas Méhul

French composer Étienne Nicolas Méhul was born at Givet in Northern France on 22 June 1763. He was known especially for his operas, but also wrote ballets, vocal music, piano music, overtures and symphonies.

Étienne Méhul died from tuberculosis in Paris on 18 October 1817, aged fifty-four.
