Derek Murray

Derek Murray is a retired Spanish teacher and classical music enthusiast from Huddersfield with a degree in Spanish. Following several years of futile trumpet lessons as a child, his interest in music was successfully initiated after meeting his wife, Hilda, a wonderful and dedicated piano teacher who instructed him in the appreciation of classical music and the art of interpreting sound. Now an avid concert-goer with an addiction to BBC Radio 3, Derek proudly maintains a compact disc collection numbering over 5,000 titles. He likes to seek out the unknown, the unusual and the alternative, with a special interest in Hispanic music. When not listening to music he can be found cruising around the Hispanic world, enjoying wine, tapas, Lorca and Almodóvar. He and his wife now live in Surrey with their cat, Byron.
