Dutch pianist, composer, administrator and teacher Antoni Fredrik Hartsuiker was born in Zwolle on 12 May 1933. He became director of the Music Academy of Utrecht and the Conservatorium van Amsterdam.
As a pianist he was known for twentieth century repertoire. As a broadcaster he presented Musica Nova on Radio 4 Netherlands.
He founded Ensemble M with conductor David Porcelijn and was its musical director and pianist.
He received various awards, including a Dutch knighthood, for his contributions to music in the Netherlands.
Ton Hartsuiker died in Utrecht on 8 May 2015, aged nearly eighty-two.
