British violinist Thomas Gould (born in 1983) studied in London at the Royal Academy of Music with György Pauk and is a former Young Classical Artist Trust musician. He plays a 1782 J B Guadagnini violin and a John Jordan six string electric violin.
His career as a soloist has included concerts with many major orchestras, internationally, and he gave the first performance of Nico Muhly's concerto Seeing is Believing (for six string electric violin) in 2008 and recorded it for Decca in 2011.
He is leader of the Britten Sinfonia and a former leader of the Aurora Orchestra. He guests as a leader with the Academy of St Martin in the Fields, the London Sinfonietta and the Mahler Chamber Orchestra. In 2011 he joined the swing band Man Overboard, featuring on the group's first album, All Hands on Deck, for Champs Hill Records in 2013.
