French composer Renaud Gagneux was born on 15 May 1947 and studied in Paris - piano with Alfred Cortot and composition with Henri Dutilleux - at the École Normale. He also studied in Cologne with Karlheinz Stockhausen and at the Conservatoire de Paris with André Jolivet and Olivier Messiaen.
From 1972 he was a member of the Groupe de Recherches Musicales de l'ORTF. He won various prizes for his compositions.
Renaud Gagneux died on 24 January 2018, aged seventy.
