American pianist, teacher and critic Harris Goldsmith was born in New York City on 23 November 1935, and studied piano at the Manhattan School of Music with Robert Goldsand.
He made several recordings as a pianist in the 1970s, taught at SUNY Binghamton, Eastman, Yale and Mannes College, and wrote for High Fidelity magazine and Musical America.
Goldsmith died in New York City on 2 April 2014, aged seventy-eight.
