Polish harpsichordist Elisabeth Chojnacka was born in Warsaw on 10 September 1939. She studied in Warsaw at the Uniwersytet Muzyczny Fryderyka Chopina and then in Paris with Aimée van de Wiele.
Known specially for her performances of new music - both for solo harpichord and combined with ensemble and/or electronics, more than eighty composers (including György Ligeti, Michael Nyman and Iannis Xenakis) dedicated works to her.
Elisabeth Chojnacka died in Paris on 28 May 2017, aged seventy-seven.
