The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is the largest and richest country in the Middle East and the fifth-largest country in Asia, covering most of the Arabian Peninsula. The capital city is Riyadh.
Traditional Saudi music is often quite basic and limited to percussion using hands or everyday objects, in part because of the migratory lifestyle of the bedouin. Western music is also present. Leading Saudi composers include Ghazi Ali, Mohamed Alsenan, Saraj Omar - composer of the Saudi national anthem - and Tariq Abdulhakeem. Also notable are performers Abadi al Johar, Abdul Majeed Abdullah, Mohammed Abdu and Rabeh Saqer.
