Onyx Brass
Viv McLean, piano
John Wilson, conductor
For their new album Transatlantic, Onyx brass combines pieces for brass quintet with works for extended brass forces, conducted by John Wilson. The majority of the pieces receive their first commercial recording, and there are first recordings of two works by Benjamin Britten. The selection of composers spans most of the twentieth century and both sides of the Atlantic, giving the album a refreshing contrast of musical traditions and styles.
Music by Adams, Arnold, Bernstein, Britten, Gershwin, Horovitz, Langford, Price, Vaughan Williams and Walton.
Recorded 11-12 April 2024 at Fleming Hall, Royal College of Music, London, UK.
