Following his Milan conducting debut (The Barber of Seville, 1956), he began conducting at most of Italy's opera houses and also began to conduct internationally.
For a while he was musical director of the Festival della Valle d'Itria and later of the Pesaro Festival.
Zedda died in Pesaro on 6 March 2017, aged eighty-nine.
