Opera Philadelphia is an American opera company in Pennsylvania. Based at the American Academy of Music, it is the only company producing grand opera in the city of Philadelphia. It runs a festival each September, called Festival O, and produces additional operas during the Spring season.
The company was formed in 1975 when The Philadelphia Lyric Opera Company and The Philadelphia Grand Opera Company merged to form The Opera Company of Philadelphia, which was renamed Opera Philadelphia in 2013.
