Armenian-American violinist Kevork Mardirossian was born on 9 December 1954. He studied at the Bulgarian State Conservatory and at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London.
During his career he led the Plovdiv Philharmonic Orchestra (1980-88) then moved to the USA and was concertmaster of the Baton Rouge Symphony Orchestra (1988-90), but also had a career internationally as a soloist.
He taught at Indiana University and at the University of Central Arkansas.
Following a brief illness, Kevork Mardirossian died in Bloomington, Indiana on 11 June 2024, aged sixty-nine.
