The American harpsichordist Ralph Kirkpatrick lived from 10 June 1911 until 13 April 1984. He studied in Paris with Wanda Landowska and Nadia Boulanger. His exceptional interest in Domenico Scarlatti resulted in an extensive biography. He spent brief periods as music professor at the University of California and later Yale.
