Polish-born Russian composer, pianist and teacher Rafail Gabdulkhaevich Kasimov was born at Slupsk on 2 July 1947. He studied at the Kazan Conservatory and at the Ural State Institute of Fine Arts.
His output as a composer included ten symphonies and other orchestral music, plus chamber and piano music. He won prizes in Russia and Japan for his works. He also taught and accompanied children.
Rafail Kasimov died on 4 October 2023, aged seventy-six.
