M Zachary Johnson is a young American composer and conductor based in New York. He studied at Michigan University and at Mannes College of Music. He has also studied at Salzburg University and at the Schola Cantorum in Paris.
He currently teaches in the Preparatory Division at Mannes College. A long standing collaboration with saxophonist Brian Horner has resulted in premieres of more than ten new works for saxophone. Johnson founded the MZJ Ensemble, a symphonic group based in New York City which performs his larger compositions.
