John Pyke Hullah

English teacher and writer John Pyke Hullah was born on 27 June 1812 in Worcester and died on 21 February 1884 in London. John Hullah taught the continental 'fixed-doe' sight-singing method (later superseded by tonic sol-fa) and also wrote music history books and composed some songs.
