Bulgarian-born composer and conductor Martin Georgiev began his life in Varna in 1983. He studied at the National Academy of Music 'Pancho Vladigerov' in Sofia, and at the Royal Academy of Music in London, UK. Since 2005 he has been based in London, and has both Bulgarian and British citizenship.
He was Composer in Residence to the City of Heidelberg, 2012-13, and conducted the Heidelberg Philharmonic Orchestra in the first performance of his own commission, The Secret (2013).
As a composer, other commissions include the City of Varna, The Royal Academy of Music for the Mayor of London, Sound and Music for the BBC Symphony Orchestra and Varna Summer International Music Festival for the Sofia National Philharmonic Orchestra.
Since 2013 he has been working as Assistant Conductor for the Royal Ballet at Covent Garden in London.
He has received various awards for composition and performance.
