Finnish composer Henrik Otto Donner was born in Tampere on 16 November 1939. He played the trumpet, and studied at the Sibelius Academy in Helsinki and later with György Ligeti in Vienna. He became one of the pioneers of Finnish experimental and avant-garde music and wrote in a wide range of musical styles, collaborating with many Finnish musicians and artists. He wrote scores for more than fifty films and television series.
He died at the Jakobstad marina on 27 June 2013.
